Greetings!
Welcome to my Ticket to Roam website! This site is a WIP (that’s Work in Progress). I am sure there will be lots of changes to this site as I learn the secrets of blogging techniques. First, let me introduce myself.
I am Sandy Thomas from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in the USA. For the past 40+ years, I have been an IT professional specializing in database administration and SQL query tuning and optimization.
Now I am at a “fork in the road” and trying to decide what path to take for my next adventure/career. I love to travel, so I decided that I wanted to start a travel blog.
What’s In the Site
Initially, the site will be a vehicle for me to recap several trips that I have taken over the past 10 years. My favorite photos from each of these trips will also be included.
As I branch out, I hope to include travel tips, favorite foods, recipes, and other travel-related info.
Website Tagline
I chose ‘Eat, Travel, Dance!’ as my website tagline.
Eat – I enjoy trying the local cuisine when I am traveling. I am anxious to share my culinary experiences with you.
Travel – As soon as I am unpacked from a trip, I am ready to start planning the next travel adventure. I get bored easily, so I always have to have something on the horizon.
Dance – Dance is in my blood. I have been dancing since I was three years old. Over the years, I have taken countless dance lessons (tap, ballet, and jazz), performed in numerous theatrical productions( high school, college, summer theater, and community theater), and choreographed high school musicals and show choirs (think Glee!). Currently, I teach a Zumba Gold class and I participate in community tap classes. It keeps me moving!!
Where I’ve Been
I love Europe! The history and culture is outstanding. I have been fortunate to visit many famous sites. As I knock a few things off of my “bucket list”, new destinations are added. Here are some of my favorites:

The Pennsylvania Five
I usually travel with four other college friends (or a subset of the four). Last year we took a GLOBUS tour of Northern Italy. One of our fellow tour group members dubbed us “The Pennsylvania Five” and it stuck!
